battles, wars & giving up for the greater good.

I’ve got a lot of fight in me.

It’s true. Those who know me, know I’m a tough cookie. I’ve been called, “a bad b*#tch” by my Marlboro-Man-Meets-Sage Granddaddy (who meant it in the highest regard, by the way). I have not-so-jokingly been called “Johnnie Cochran” by an ex of mine with whom I participated in many a heated discussion. I was raised by a couple of Marines who held a clear propensity for conflict in those days. I’ve got some serious Aries energy in my chart and have always felt like a warrior.

For much of my life, I have taken great pride in my ability to lay down the law when I need to. But when do I really need to? This is the question I have been working with.

This “Battle Mentality” is a manifestation of a masculine energy imbalance. Too much Sun. Too much ambition. To much striving for achievement. Too much war. Too much NEED TO BE RIGHT. In the “Battle Mentality” someone wins and someone loses. Someone is right and someone is wrong. There are enemies and allies (and you never really know who’s who). There is separation and isolation. Before you know it, you have walls built up around you. And why? What is accomplished?

Furthermore, what is created?

Now the warrior in me rose up early on to protect and help me through the challenges of my early development. That “battle mentality” has been supported by growing up in a world, which eats up conflict like candy. From reality television to country on country, these conflicts engage our egos, our sense of separation. No one truly thrives(mind, body and soul) in this constant state of conflict.

As I ripen, I become painfully aware of how my own “battle mentality” plays in certain areas and relationships in my life. It has caused some subtle and sometimes monumental pain for myself and others.

Here’s something I know for sure: being right NEVER feels as good as being loving. Ever.  There may be a momentary ego blip, “I won!”

But it’s short lived, my friends.

Much of my work both self, and in my teaching, is opening to the feminine energy within. This energy runs through all human beings and acts as nurturer and healer. We live in a world that for a very long time valued and actively cultivated the Masculine while repressing and oppressing the Feminine. This has lead to a collective imbalance that is being shifted right now.

As you read this, more and more women and men are seeing the value in cultivating emotional awareness. Many are understanding the value of heart-centered living and leadership. We are starting to open to receptivity. Living in the present vs. striving ahead.

It is the feminine within which feels deeply. When we feel the world around us, we do not make choices that hurt ourselves and others.

The feminine asks you to move your brains into your heart. When we live and speak from our hearts, we heal instantly.
