I have a list of sheros and heros I call upon daily. A scroll of spiritual teachers, musicians, performers, poets, weirdos and revolutionaries.
And when I am swimming in the oceans of inspiration they have created, I always try and remind myself of their mortality.
He’s just a dude. A guy with a notebook and something to say.
She was just a girl who couldn’t reconcile the status quo turned woman with a vision.
Most of these people had a pretty ordinary time of it. Ripe with all that human stuff: a less than perfect childhood, not too much money in their pocket, friends, a first love, a broken heart turned hopeful, a hopeful heart turned to tears, failures, abuse, dreams and fears and such.
So why? Why did they end creating a universally beloved album? Why was it them that revolutionized their field, their country? What did they do right? How did one little person do such an extraordinary thing?
Here’s what I’ve come up with:
They showed up.
When they were scared, they performed anyway.
When they had a broken heart, they sung about it.
When they were hungry, they wrote.
When others questioned their sanity, they made declarations.
They danced in their basement.
They prayed in the middle of the night.
They said “YES!”
They moved through every ounce of resistance that stood between them and what they had to do.
Something was alive in them and they couldn’t let it die with their body.
So I ask you, dear friend, “What is alive in you?”
And
Can you work through your resistance and simply do it?
Imagine if Bob Dylan said, “Aw, man, I can’t sing.” And then didn’t.
What if Gloria Steinem went on to write articles for women about the issues of the time: pantyhose and handbags and how to please your man?
Each of us would be personally effected. The world would have lost something.
This is serious business, people.
So on this Wednesday,
take some time.
Talk to your guts.
And listen.
Then throw fear to the fishes and do not waste another moment not singing your song.

If somebody like Julia Roberts or Natalie Portman had a personal blog where they posted pictures of their vacations or something, would you still take them seriously as actors? Do you think celebrities with personal blogs are less credible and taken less seriously than those who don’t? Furthermore, would you visit their blogs to see what they are up to?.
I don’t really like livejournal or xanga. I already have both of those. I was going to try deadjournal because I read on here that it was really good, but I don’t want to have to pay for it and you have to have an invite code to get in free. Does anybody have an invite code they could give me, or a suggestion on another free blogging website I could try? Any information would be helpful..
I haven’t a clue how to use WordPress and Comicpress to create sites and publish comic strips! Please help. Do you know of a good walkthrough? Thanks much!.
