This month’s New Moon is ruled by the sign of health, routine and work, Virgo. Let’s reflect deeper into what work means. I think about the Sanskrit word for work, karma. Karma roughly translates into work, action, and also as the result of action. Virgo is represented by a woman, and this woman is usually depicted carrying an ear of wheat in her hand. This ear of wheat (also seen as corn sometimes) represents the seed. It represents the idea that there is seed in all of our actions. It is our actions that create our habits and routine, and it our habits that produce results.
Virgo also rules health. Health seems to be all the rave lately. Everyone is obsessed with being healthy. But what does being healthy actually mean? Does it mean fitting into a size 4? Does it mean eating only raw and organic food? Does it mean training for a triathalon? Health is not isolated into one event or one goal. Health is our well-being, and health is everything! I see health as the ability to live our lives fully. I see health as able to face life just as it is and feel competent and able.
In this way, all of our actions are potentially contributing to our health and no action is in vain, each action matters. Whether it is the action of choosing a glass of water over a soda, or opting to hang up the phone during a conversation that is becoming full of complaining, it ALL contributes to your health.
The energy of Virgo reminds us that our actions can become our health. Our actions our oftentimes the seeds to the fruit that shall bare. This month, choose one action to commit to for your HEALTH! Be it drinking water daily, physically exercising, speaking from the heart, not taking things personally…choose one, commit and make it a habit!
