“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”– Jorge Luis Borges
Last week we talked about defining what health means to you. You know, not putting your fate in the hands of others, trusting your internal guide. This week I share 5 books by 5 “experts.” Ahhh- duality shows up again. As always these books are to be read with the understanding that ultimately it is you who decides what is right for you. These 5 books turned my world upside down because they spoke to the health of my soul. If I’ve learned anything, it’s care for your soul and health will come.
Here my 5 top picks to add a little paradise to your life…
1. Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom: Creating Physical and Emotional Health and Healing by Dr. Christiane Northrup.
What can I say? This is holistic women’s health bible, the big mama jama. I use it as a reference book, reading chapters and sub chapters as I find need for her wisdom in areas as varied as lady parts, sexuality, life phases, nutrition, menopause…the list goes on. Dr. Northrup brings the wisdom from her medical background, the study of the mind/body connection, and the divine feminine. She also weaves in experience from her life lessons, stories about her patients, and a generous amount of scientific research. For the love of goddess, own this book.
2. Women, Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything by Geneen Roth
Geneen Roth has been teaching workshops and retreats on food, body image issues & emotional eating for over 30 years. I love this book dearly (and so does Oprah, btw). Ms. Roth uncovers the connection between the way we eat and our deepest beliefs about ourselves. Do not expect a book of nutrition tips. This book goes several layers deeper into self: you will explore why and how we eat what we eat and what we can learn from it. Through reading this book, I learned so much about myself. Highly, highly recommended. Check out her site for workshops and writings: Geneen Roth.com
3. The Return of the Feminine: Honoring the Cycles of Nature by Dr. Rebecca Orleane
Though heavily researched this book is definitely got a case of woo-woo. Personally, I don’t mind because this information in this book rang so very true for me. It completely changed my relationship to my menstrual cycle and really opened my mind to the truth of the cyclical nature of woman. Simply, this is a book that was a game changer in my life and work. If you don’t mind poetry at the opening of every chapter and lil woo woo, you will learn a lot about yourself and/or the women you love.
4. The Female Brain by Dr. Louann Brizendine
If you are more scientifically minded, Dr. Brizendine brings hard evidence to the table. She explain to us how our anatomical build of our brains and the hormonal cycles effect how we communicate, think, act, love, parent the way we do. And how it is different than our male counterparts(she also wrote a book called The Male Brain, if you are interested). This is a surprisinyly fun read. Enjoy.
5. Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
This book speaks to the health of the soul and the wild woman spirit. Plainly, The WILD Woman project would not exist if Dr. Estes had not pen it. I have recommended it before and here I am again. Through the passing down of stories and myths, Dr. Estes allows us to see the ancient and universal truths of the Wild Woman within each of us. Please Visit her site and take a look around.

When installing Joomla on my computer in order to update a preexisting site, do I need my client to give me the Host Name, MySQL User Name, MySQL Password, MySQL Database NAme and MySQL Table Prefix? I already have their FTP information, and the Joomla admin control panel login information..
What blogging website had the least invasive ads for free-account users?. Or what blogging website is best for someone looking to start a professional literary blog?.
I need a computer program that will automatically start another program and not let that program close for a work computer. So basically, when the computer starts up, this program I am looking for will start a work-related program and force it to stay open, so that the only use of that computer would be to use the work program. Thank you!.
LOL, Are you serious?
