I have a notion that every time a woman speaks ill of another woman, all of our hearts break just a little.
This theory works in reverse too. When each of us holds a sister in her highest light-by the way we think of her, speak of her and do right by her-we all get stronger of heart.
While this is not a scientific theory, but a musing from this here wild woman, I ask you to entertain the idea, if only for the minute or two it will take you to finish reading here.
Those who have been to a WILD Woman Circle are familiar with the WILD Heart Meditation that is done at the closing of every circle. For those that have never been, this visualization guides us into feeling our hearts, our heart lights. We then explore how those heart lights are connected to the heart lights of others, near and far. In the visualization we begin to see and feel how our very hearts are connect to create a kind of web that wraps around the planet through all beings.
In this meditation, we viscerally feel our connectedness to life everywhere.
It is this connection to one another, that makes our personal inner work so valuable to the collective. We are highly co-creative after all. How we meet the world in thought, speech and action ripples out.
Therefor when we sit in judgment of a sister, that hatred is felt consciously or unconsciously by others. Much profit and low caliber entertainment has been created by encouraging ‘cat fighting’ and ‘mean girl-ing’. This behavior of cutting each other down(i.e: “She has no talent”, “Wow, Jenny has really put on some weight”, and on) is harmful to us all because it sends the dark reverberation of hatred out into the collective.
Now this doesn’t mean we can’t have discernment when a sister does or says something we wish she wouldn’t have. My encouragement here is instead of using your creative power to tear her down, redirect your energy into creating more of what you do want to see in the world. The more we gather in hate and judgement, the more hate and judgement reverberates. The opposite is also true.
Try this:
Think of a woman you adore. Focus your attention on her beauty, her unique gifts, her heart. Close your eyes and send her some love for 5 breaths.
Think of a woman you dislike. Focus your attention on her beauty, her unique gifts, her heart. Close your eyes and send her some love for 5 breaths.
This quick little expression of love and sisterhood can be challenging and powerful (if you like, share in the comments any reflection you had doing this).
In the next few days notice when you begin to think and speak against a sister. Take a pause and consider the power of your own creativity. If you would like to spend your juice in this way, you will make the choice consciously. If you want to create in another way, simply change the conversation.
I am interested in working together to heal the socialized competition and cattiness that runs through our society like a virus. I believe we have the power to create highly supportive and loving relationships with each other. As these relationships are strengthened with love, so will our web of heart light be strengthened. When this happens, the world will be wrapped in the nurturing love of the divine feminine. And my Goddess, what a world that will be!
With Wild Love,
Chris
