Living in an incredibly fast paced culture that is continuously anticipating “the next thing”, living moment to moment, breath by breath, can be important medicine. Honoring each moment of the Moon Cycles and the fullness of each Season (both in Nature and in our inner lives) is a practice that can deeply ground us in the present moment.
Create Space & Breathe
- Carve out some quiet time for yourself. (Put your phone on silent!)
- See this time as a loving act of self-care.
- Tune into your breath, the rise and fall of your chest and stomach. Becoming present to each breath you take
Contemplate: Go outside. Connect with the Earth & the Leaves
-
Once you feel connected to your body, your breath, and the present moment, softly gaze and allow yourself to gently take in your surrounding.
-
How does the Earth feel different now then it does some other times of year?
-
Take a moment to look at the leaves as they are now. Honoring and remembering when they were fallen. Honoring and remembering that they will fall again.
-
Taking a moment to honor the cycle of the Seasons. How faithful they are, even if you live somewhere they express themselves incredibly subtly.
-
Honoring and remembering the cyclical nature that is all around us and within us.
Ask in & Listen
- How is this Summer Full Moon arriving within your being?
- Perhaps closing your eyes again and asking:
What is rising within you in this very moment?
What is desiring to bloom inside you this Season?
What is coming to light in your being? Is something making itself clear? Demanding to be fully seen?
Is there a part of you deeply yearning to be expressed? Unable to be ignored (like the Full Moon).
- There is no pressure to create or manufacture an answer. Simply ask in and see what arises.
- Your answer could be the most mundane detail or something incredibly paramount. No judgements here.
Take inspired action.
-
Breathe into the feeling that may be arising.
-
You may want to take some time to journal here.
-
When you feel clear on your intention (or perhaps you are experiencing a specific crystalized feeling) take an inspired action in honor of the First Full Moon of Summer.
-
This action can be a dedicated dance where you give yourself freedom to express in all your fullness, this can be planting something (physically in the earth, or metaphorically in your heart).
-
Perhaps you’re called to share a part of yourself you’ve been hiding, to bring it into the light? Maybe this is done by naming it to yourself of speaking it to a loved one (or a proclamation from the mountain tops).
-
Just taking an inspired action as if to say “I see you, I honor you, I want to bring you into the light and allow you to bloom”.
-
There is no wrong way to do this.
Thoughtfully Closing
-
Give yourself plenty of time to process all that you’ve discovered.
-
Taking a moment of gratitude for this Full Moon, the Summer, the faithful Cycles of Nature, and your sweet self.

Dear Amanda,
The Solo Recipe for the First Full Moon of Summer is exactly what I needed! I can recognize and celebrate this Full Moon in the daylight, work on the art I am called to paint, and CELEBRATE!
Thank you!
Leslie, you are so welcome! I’m so glad it was useful for you. Happy Full Moon and Cheers to creating your Art! Sending Love and a big Full Moon hug.
Beautiful! I know that Moon, She is there even through I cannot see her through the storm clouds that block my view. Thanks!
Hi Amanda
Thanks so much for the lovely full moon ritual. I went over to myy neighbour’s and we did the ritual together. We both so needed it. We breathed and sat and listened inwardly to what we need to bring to light this full moon and journaled and shared. We went to look at the moon but it’s hiding tonight so we’ll find her tomorrow. I did a full moon card spread for my neighbour and it was very insightful.
I’m still working on my intention.
Heading to bed for a night full of dreams. Sweet dreams Wild Hearts
