Happy Full Moon on Friday the 13th!!! In addition to today being possibly my favorite combination of happenings at once (a Full Moon on Friday the 13th?!) it is also the last Full Moon in our year long series: Tiny Revolutions. Wherein we have explored the most Micro and Macro Revolutions taking place in our own lives and in the collective.

This Ritual is intended to assist you in reflecting, celebrating, and releasing as we take one last Full Moon look at all the minor and major Revolutions the have taken place in our lives over the last year. If you’re new to the Tiny Revolutions exploration, no worries,  you can simply approach this Ritual Recipe as an opportunity to reflect on the last year of your life.
Step One: Get Centered

“Getting Centered” is simply taking time and space to connect with yourself before diving into the activity at hand (be it a Ritual, meditation, journaling session, or shared discussion). This time can consist of anything that helps you quiet the noise in your head and tune into the feeling in your heart. You can do anything that helps you connect with the part of you deep, deep down in your heart.  You may want to light some candles, take a bath, adorn yourself as if you we going to a special gathering, listen to some music, or any of the infinite things that work for you.
Step Two: Inquiry

  • First, simply take some time reflecting on all the Revolutions that have happened in your life over the last year. Were there big changes? Or subtle shifts? Perhaps you started a new job, or fine tuned your role in a position you’ve held for years. Perhaps you’ve had monumental emotional experiences, or learned a little more about an aspect of yourself you’ve already cultivated.
I love to sense into reflections like this as if I am pausing to sense my legs in-between stretching. Comparing the way one side feels to the other side. The before and after of the event. I approach reflecting on my life in the same way: remembering how my body, heart and mind felt a year ago, and tuning into all the ways it feels shifted now.

Take time to write in your journal or simply contemplate any noteworthy Revolutions you’ve experienced over the last year.

  • Next, decide on 1-3 Revolutions that happened in your life over the last year that you would like to Celebrate. These can be celebrations of major events such as moving, beginning a new job, cultivating new friendships or romantic relationships. These can also be subtle Revolutions (and just because they aren’t “major” doesn’t meant they aren’t worthy of an equally enthusiastic celebration). Some of your more subtle Revolutions might be: reading more books, taking more opportunities to live a creative life, setting boundaries, allowing yourself to have more fun, taking the next step in the process of completing a larger project, or anything you can imagine.
Take a moment to write these down in your journal.

  • Lastly, decide on 1-3 things you would like to release. These items might be things that you would like to release that are making it challenging for you to continue going deeper in a specific area of you life (perhaps a habit or thought pattern that is preventing you from deepening a relationship or moving onto the next step in a project). Or these items might be something more major that you have been contemplating releasing for a while, and now the time to release has arrived.

Take a moment to write these down in your journal.

Step Three:  Connect with the Earth in Celebration & Release

I would like to invite you to find your own creative way to Celebrate your Revolutions and Release what is blocking your path with the Earth. This can be as simple or complex as you desire.

~ You might like to simply connect with the Wind. Speak what you are releasing aloud, and allow it to be carried away on the wind. Then, allow yourself to find delight in Celebrating with the Wind dancing around your body.

~ You might like to go to a body of water (or a sacredly drawn bath!) and allow the water to aid you in releasing, then take time to Celebrate your Revolutions.

~ You may even like to brew a special tea and drink the tea in Celebration of your revolutions and then offer the leaves to the Earth as an action of release.

Get creative! Do something that feels delightful to you!
Step Four: Reflection & Intention for the Revolution(s) Ahead

In closing out this Ritual, I invite you to reflect on how the process felt and how you feel afterwards. Do you feel lighter? Do you feel proud of yourself for your celebrated Revolutions?

Is there perhaps an Intention you’d like to carry with you for the Revolution(s) ahead? If we view our path as a spiral going deeper and deeper, is there an intention you’d like to set for the next Revolution of deepening?
Your Turn!

How did this Ritual go for you?
We would love to hear how you chose to Release & Celebrate, if you’d like to share!
What is your intention for the Revolution ahead?
