Today’s Full Moon marks the halfway point in our
“Winds of Change” Moon Cycle, where we are aiming to support & allow right changes in our inner lives, communities & in our world.
As we explore our yearlong theme,
“Rituals of Rewilding”, my hope is to bring you simple Rituals (with the continuous invitation to embellish however you see fit) calling upon the Elements to aid and support us in the movements of our lives and the collective.
May these Rituals assist us in building and strengthening our intimate relationship with each of the Elements, ourselves, and our world.
Materials Needed: Journal & A Source of Wind (Natural or Created)
Time Suggested: 20-30 mins (or however long you like!)
Step One: Getting Centered
“Getting Centered” is taking time to connect deeply with ourselves before connecting to something/ someone else. We are aiming to connect with the part of us deep, deep down in our hearts. By taking time to have “Ritual Foreplay” (lighting candles, turning on music, turning off our phones, etc.) we are signaling to ourselves on the deepest level that we are making ourselves a priority. We are signaling to our innermost selves that now is a safe time to emerge and communicate with us.
Step Two: Connect with the Wind
Find a way to physically connect to the Air element in the form of Wind. I would like to say (and I can not stress this enough) there is no such thing as some Wind being “better” or “more sacred” than other Wind. Whether the source of your Wind is an ocean breeze, an electric fan, an open car window, or wind you produce from using a folding fan, all Wind is equally Valid/Special/Sacred. So, Wild City Women rejoice in the fact that every trip on the subway is an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with the Air Element.
Once you’ve decided on your conduit of Wind, let it overtake you as much as possible. Allow yourself to fully FEEL the Wind. See if you can fully surrender to the car window Wind controlling your hair, and see if you can breathethrough it. See if you can feel the breeze dance around your entire body. If possible, see if you can play with the Wind as it rolls around and encapsulates your being. If you are using a gentler source of Wind, see how deeply you can tune into the gentleness of the Wind. When it feels as if it’s stopped, has it really? Challenge yourself to feel even the subtlest breeze.
After you spend some time feeling the Wind against your skin, hair, body, face: allow any memories or thoughts about Wind come to you. What does feeling the Wind remind you of? What does feeling the Wind make you think of? How would you describe the feeling of Wind to someone who has never felt it? Do any related or unrelated images come to you?
Take time to journal about anything you’d like to remember.
Step Three: How can the Wind Support you in Change?
The Wind is a conductor of Transformation. The Wind assists in the transformation of the seed, carrying it from plant to new soil, helping it find a new place to lay down roots. The Wind can also be a destructive force, shaking trees and assisting them in shedding their dead leaves.
How can the intelligence of the Air Element, in the form of Wind assist you with Changes happening in your life?
Perhaps:
~ The Wind can help carry away negative thoughts, feelings, or beliefs?
~ The Wind can help you spread your message the way it helps plants with seed dispersal?
~ The Wind can give you courage to flow and shift with ease?
You may be calling upon the Wind to assist you in Shedding/ Releasing or you may be calling upon the Wind to assist you in creating something.
I recommend simplifying your intention as much as possible and writing it in your journal.
Step Four: An Act of Gratitude for the Wind
After you have completed your Ritual and crafted your intention I suggest you do one action in gratitude of the Wind. As we are building our relationships with the Elements, I think it’s important to remember that giving back is an important piece of the equation. We have a responsibility to the natural world to continue to examine and work against the tendency of “take, take, taking”.
Your act of gratitude can be simple. It might be speaking your thanks to the Wind, hanging a Wind chime with the intention of honoring the Wind that grazes it, respecting the Wind in its gentle and forceful forms, or anything else you can imagine. Your act of gratitude is a way of remembering and honoring that the Elements do not exist solely for our consumption/ to serve us, but we are grateful that they so often choose to assist us with their wisdom and actions.
Optional Wild Woman Mad-Lib to assist you in your Ritual:

Love this Amanda 🐺🐺❤️❤️ Thank you Chris and Amanda!!!
Glad you enjoyed! My pleasure!
I took a walk and there was a gentle breeze blowing…I could hear the leaves rustling in the trees. Thank you for the prompt to experience the wind tonight.
Sherri, how lovely! Thank you so much for taking in the recipe and sharing your experience. Sending love.
I love this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Connecting to the wind had a surprise for me. I noticed I could feel the wind, but could not see it. I immediately noticed this is like intuition and instincts- they are felt but not seen. Just as I know, and I mean KNOW the wind is real because I feel it- I know my inner wisdom is real even if it didn’t come from something I could touch like a book.
There is a deeper connection to myself and nature. I even hear the whispers of the wind with a more open spiritual ear and I love it!
Thank you WWP!!
Jennifer, what a beautiful reflection!! How perfect! Thank you so much for taking in the recipe so openly and sharing your experience. Sending love to you!
