Dear One,
The last New Moon of the Season is here. The natural world is in an in-between time now, a kind of liminal space. Do you feel it?
To honor this New Moon time, we have a very special poem from our beloved wild woman elder, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
This poem was offered as a blessing for her “soul-friend” John O’Donohue, the great Celtic mystic, after his sudden death in his early 50’s. Several decades after her masterpiece, Women Who Run with the Wolves, Dr. Estés, now an elder, offers up her perspective on death, and what lies beyond in this blessing poem.
After these last 2 years, where, collectively, our relationship with death has come to the fore, to hear from Dr. E on this matter is particularly impactful.
So, please come join me now as we wander through this wildish cosmic poem together.
Let’s see what we find…

Listening and feeling that Poem this morning one could be saddened by it but it’s a true reality especially as one becomes older and the true love you have for your loved ones and the love hopefully you have with nature and the many gifts we are given just by living and being able to enjoy these things.
I appreciate, enjoy and am always so grateful for all I have that is free for the taking.
It’s so nice to be reminded and have your thoughts and feelings reaffirmed now and then simply by reading or listening to a poem, a song or simply by letting yourself be still and open to all the magnificent beauty and love that surrounds us each and every day.
Beautiful, Linda. Thank you so much for sharing ♥️
thank you so much for sharing this…. I find the written word more accessible than listening to recordings, but I really wanted to connect with this blessing, so I googled and found this link with the words to it: https://www.davidpaulkirkpatrick.com/2015/09/04/the-painted-face-of-god-by-dr-clarissa-pinkola-estes/
thanks again for all you do.
I hear that, Rose.
I was cautious about copyright issues for this particular poem, but that is where I found the transcription too.
May the link help others to read it. ♥️
The Poem is just so perfect in meaning for me..many years ago I ran a small aromatherapy business called Anam Cara..my son aged 30 went home to God last year. People who talk to me struggle to understand how at peace I am with his going home.. this Poem resonates with my peace….thank you..Namaste..
Beautiful, Cryssy. ♥️ So happy you related to the peace in this poem. Blessings on your dear son who, in Dr. Estes’ words is with the star-rapt god of the cosmos. Thank you for sharing. xo
