A friend of mind grew up outside of Chicago and there was a lady in her neighborhood who was well into her 80s, and eventually 90s, who could always be seen outside – in her yard, working one thing or another, doing this or that – absolutely vital and joyful. My friend would stand at her fence and ask, “Mrs. Avery what’s your secret?” And she’d reply through a smile, “Can’t hit a moving target!”
In change there is potentiality to re-create our lives – most often in small, but powerful ways.
In change there are new perspectives that tickle our imaginations and infuse our dreams with color.
In change there is a remembrance of the sacred, felt in our hearts, which guides us forward into the mystery of the next phase.

Thank you for this, Chris. It really resonates with me. I have been experiencing the understanding lately that I feel inner resistance even to changes that I very much want. Because there is a pushback in me on some level. The pushback says: “You aren’t allowed to want something different. We can’t handle the disequilibrium of that.” But in fact I can handle that disequilibrium now. So it is not only acceptable, but also safe to want different things, and to move toward them. Because I can trust myself to be in a new, unfamiliar place, and to respond –not perfectly, but well enough.

Thank you so much for sharing, Shelley!
Thank you for sharing this gift. I am also noticing the changes that sometimes feel like promptings and sometimes feel like disruptions. I want to lean into the promptings and resist the disruptions, as though the former are good and the latter are bad (or will be bad for me). And in truth, it feels like a great ocean wave that will carry me along.
May the great ocean wave keep carrying you along, Dee.

Totally feeling this having moved into a new home, leaving another life behind and shifting into a new role and a new identity! I’ve been noticing it in my friends as well. The pull is getting stronger and stronger. Remain or change.
Beautiful, Tracey 💜
Blessings on all your changes!

This story does resonate with me in so many ways. I led a meditation last night and asked each person to picture themselves as their favorite tree in autumn and to notice the leaves and how they were changing. I had them imagine a gentle breeze blowing and swirling each of the leaves that had changed in color as it fell to the ground – seeing that each falling leaf was a part of something of themselves they were ready to shed. And noticing and remembering that those same leaves that had fallen would compost and nurture the earth and the roots of the tree bringing with it new life and growth.
Beautiful, Darcie. 🍁
Love that imagery. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Chris, I too have noticed changes within and without. The biggest change for me personally this past month is my perspective of change. After resisting change for countless reasons and excuses which all break down to “fear” & “out of my comfort zone”, I realize I am not changing, but transforming…and not to something out of my comfort zone but to the familiarity of what I have forgotten. This past month I feel that I am home…I have arrived in my rightful space. With this liberation, I am noticing how my coming home is now embracing those around me in the collective consciousness. I am feeling empathy with loved ones and strength as we connect in our daily routines, and I see subtle changes taking place in the dynamics of our relationships. It is hard to explain.
Wow, Nancy 💜
I’m so happy for you. And just loved reading your insights here.
