The last Full Moon of the season shines bright this weekend. And as Full Moons often do, it inspires us mortals to raise a glass in celebration and maybe even awe.
The creatures in us can feel the intermingling of the seasons, Summer dancing palm to palm with Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and Winter whirling with Spring in the Southern part of the world.
It’s a time to celebrate the abundance in our lives. It’s time to experience and express the gratitude for our harvest from this cycle around the Sun. To name, one by one, each bit of bounty – Each new skill, essential learning, relationship, new interest, hobby, perspective, treasured memory. Sometimes we forget how rich we are in all the diverse fruits of experience. This Moon invites us to remember. This Moon invites us to name each blessing, kiss it and tuck it into our heart.
It’s worth noting that sometimes our most valuable harvests are won by difficulties, by things not going our way. Bitter as they may taste at first, with some time & reflection, these can offer the greatest and most lasting nourishment. Allowing these experiences to teach us is how we do our most profound growing. So let us not forget to conjure gratitude for those gifts, learnings, perspectives that have come with a sting.
This weekend let the last Full Moon of the season invite you into a small and potent ritual:
1. Under the Moon, with your pen as your wand, list your bounty.
2. Breath full and heart lit, remember all those treasures your Life has delivered to you this Cycle. Do not rush the process, allow the writing to flood you with the feeling of each.
3. When your list is complete, make a personal offering of gratitude toward to Life – maybe it’s a song or a howl or a dance, or something that’s just between you and the Moon – trust your instincts.
Life is so very short and the way I see it, the more we can celebrate the better. The vital spirit of celebration is one passed down through the ages. The instinct lives in us. Our ancestors had harvest celebrations of all kind. Evidence for ceremonies of thanks have been found the world over. So call your ancestors and descendants to the party if you wish, as you make your whole self – mind, heart, soul, spirit & body into an altar of thanks.
Bonus Invitation: Here at The Wild Woman Project we are at the very end of a year-long adventure we began on the New Moon last September. For a year we have been sharing in a theme, an ongoing contemplation: Build Altars Everywhere. So if you’ve been following along – you may be inspired to make a final altar of Celebration for all the blessings the journey has delivered to you.
Deepest gratitude to you wild women who bring rituals of remembrance into our modern world. Thank you for keeping your hearts feral and your bodies in touch with the Cycles of the the Sun & Moon. This is how we stay wild. This is how we become wise.
Happy moon, my loves, happy moon.
