Truth: You are not living up to your definition of perfection.
Sometimes you eat too much and talk way too loud. Other times you forget important dates and miss big opportunities.
You feel overwhelmed and want to quit a few times a week.
On occasion, you talk behind people’s backs. People you love. You lie too. You run away from responsibility and take your frustration out on people who don’t deserve it.
You act like a jerk sometimes and a control freak.
You go long periods of time without shaving your legs.
Truth: You are doing some things right.
You say “please” and “thank you” and show kindness to strangers.
You pay your bills, mostly.
You give gifts. Like ones you put thought into and wrap.
There are a handful of people on earth who could call you for help at any hour of the day and you’d drop everything to go to them.
You work hard and do your best a lot of the time. You read and dream big dreams.
You have been called one or more of the following many times: “Angel”, “Sweetheart”, “Life Saver”, “Power house”, “Goddess”, “Brilliant”, “Genius, “The Best”
Dare: I dare you to be the perfect mess.
Wear sneakers with your formal attire and dance you ass off.
Pull an all nighter to write that thing you’ve been meaning to write or paint that thing you’ve meaning to paint.
Get dirty while creating something beautiful.
Say a little too much and then get quiet and see how it lands.
Put your Google Maps away and get lost. When you are there, do something you’ve never done before.
Eat too much and then run too long the next day.
Give up the pursuit of peace and calm for the pursuit of passion and adventure. (Warning: you may just find another flavor of peace)
Fall madly in love and write poems. Bad ones that make people want to throw up in their mouth.
Let yourself cry. Like ball your eyes out. YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW WHY. In fact, don’t bother trying to figure it out. (Hint: Sad movies and music can help get you started)
Give credit where credit it due. This applies even if you done it!
Be unpredictable often and predictable where it counts.
Take mini-adventures, daily, to places you’ve never gone before even if it’s your neighbor’s backyard.
Drop the need to be right like it’s hot.
Before you get mad, get curious.
Always speak from your heart. When you love someone, say it. When you are upset with someone, say it.
Surround yourself with people, art, work, environments that make you feel like the best version of yourself. Say peace out to things/people/places that make you feel disconnected from you.
Only say you are sorry when you are. The rest the time, be completely unapologetic.
Be crazy and outlandish.
Get into trouble and then use your superpowers to fly your way out of it.
Dare to be honest.
Dare to be moved.
Dare to change your mind.
Dare to be the perfect mess you were always meant to be.
