When was the last time you decided to go on an adventure?
When we become so engulfed by our routine or sense of normalcy, it can become easy to avoid adventure and risks. In fact, we may become so much in our everyday routine that we forget that anything outside of it exists! We can forget what might happen if we say yes to an unexpected invitation dinner, or what might happen if we decide to smile instead of frown at a stranger, or what may happen if we decide to open ourselves up to not knowing.
Usually our minds go one of two ways we don’t know. We either 1) fear the worst will happen or 2) expect the best will happen. Which way do you notice your mind goes?
I am quite good at fearing the worst will happen. It’s as though I have a default setting at times to expect resistance in my life. It is a continuing practice for me to notice when my mind defaults in this way. And the more I notice it, the more I am able to make choices that are not colored by my fear. By listening to my fear and becoming well-acquainted, I notice that it is not experienced in order to paralyze me, but that it is experienced so that I may learn freedom.
A prerequisite for adventure is freedom, and a prerequisite for freedom is the ability to flow. As we flow in and out of certain situations in our life, we gain the ability to move past the voices of fear and the voices that try to keep us in our normal life of routine. As we can let go of the ideas of what we think we know, we can open up to curiosity and allow the curiosity to guide us.
In some ways, that is why Sagittarius rules matters related to the world and to internationalism. It inspires us to live beyond the world (whether physical or non-physical) that we think we know. It inspires us to even leave that world behind and explore new ways of being, new ways of thinking and new ways of understanding that perhaps even challenge what we think we know.
In this way, you can go on an adventure every single moment of your life. As you make the choice to experience things, people, and events with curiosity and openness, you open yourself to a whole new world.
