I will be honest, the month of July was full of challenges for me. I am aware that July’s retrograde was one of the more difficult retrogrades for me; my kitchen flooded, I missed scheduled flights and my wallet was stolen. Of course all of these mishaps put life into a clearer perspective. While all of the events of retrograde brought up frustration, fear, and anger within me, they also showed me that the show will and must go on. Challenges are the best time to put our spiritual practices into actual practice.
What I was able to practice was feeling upset and also letting go of the feelings of upset and distress after feeling them. The practice of letting go is not always my strongest one. But, like everything else in life, the more we practice, the stronger we get in our practice. My teacher Toni Bergins used to say, “You gotta feel it to heal it.” We can’t heal or practice letting go if we don’t have the experience or if we deny the feeling.
