I was lying in bed.
Finally warm under my covers, cats comfy in their perfect little pile on my legs, I got the message loud and clear: Drink a glass of water.
I dismissed the thought immediately. “Nope. Not going to happen,” I told the little voice inside.
“Please, I need water…” it persisted.
And just as I was about to come back with an excuse about how I didn’t want to disturb the cats in their 21st hour of sleep of the day-I paused.
Boom: a revelation dropped on my head.
I got up and quietly poured myself a glass of water. As I stood on the cold kitchen floor, I wondered how often I have ignored my inner guidance.
As I guzzled down 2 tall glasses of water, feeling the deep nourishment my body was experiencing, I pondered just how quickly I had dismissed my intuition.
The pathway between the intuition and our conscious minds is in need of constant clearing so that the intuition can easily and gracefully come in and integrate into our beings and our lives. My work in Leadership Training, Workshops and 1-on-1 journeys always comes down to clearing that pathway.
I went back to bed and as my two furry feline children rearranged to snuggle back in, I reflected on the subtle ways I close the door on my intuition. I saw the knee jerk pattern which still pulls me to deny my guidance.
This happens to us all. Maybe we think the guidance is inconvenient or mundane or down right crazy-so we say “no.” We deny. We shut the door. We clog the pathway(and the relationship) to our intuition.
How do you feel when your feelings are constantly shut down or denied by others? Do you want to share with them? Do you want to be near them? Intuition is the same. After enough denying, the intuition stops sharing with us.
Our intuitions are like precious friends and guardians. In order to keep a healthy and loving relationship with them, we must meet them with honor and reverence. The more we allow our guidance to be heard and acted upon, the more guidance will come through, the deeper the bond.
I made a promise to myself that night: I will listen, no matter how small, and do my very best to act on the guidance.
And sometimes I get guidance that I know I am not ready to act on. In that case, I will say: I hear you, I feel you, please give this human time to open to your divine guidance.
I’m passing the ball to you now.
Truth: How often do you deny your intuition/inner guidance?
Dare: Choose a day this week. Declare it your day inner guidance. Listen, honor and act on the guidance that comes through.
For as we grow, as we expand into our truest and wildest nature, our intuition becomes our sacred compass. This compass allows us to navigate our truly unique paths with clarity, courage and grace.
With great faith in you,
C
