Through the Roots
Restorative Woodland Camping Retreat for Wild WomenFull Moon Time, August 10th – 14th, 2022
Asheville, North Carolina
Soothe Your Soul
Rest Your Bones
Rekindle Your Spirit
After all we’ve been through in these last couple years, come and rest your bones by the fire.
Tune your nervous system to the trees.
Bathe your soul in the mineral-rich, Spring-fed lakes.
Let the mountain streams sing you to sleep.
Cackle and cry and dance and heal under August’s Full Moon nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a VERY private location with lots and lots of space to spread out, explore, and make magic.
Writing a new story – together.
We are inviting women who have gathered with The Wild Woman Project before and are familiar with our values, practices & mission – that we may gracefully create something new – together.
Our foundational aims for our Through the Roots Retreat are these:
To come and lay our hearts on the Earth,
to relax our nervous systems,
to slow down and be nourished,
to gently tend & integrate (if we wish) all that has been stirring in us,
to lay down the divisiveness which has cut through the fabric of our communities,
to come together to mend and bless,
to revel in the beauty of our differences,
to curl up in the comfort of our similarities,
to tend our hearts with care,
to play (!),
to co-create at a whole new level,
to remember how it feels to be together in all our wilderness,
to intentionally honor ourselves, one another & the Earth.

Hear from others who have studied with & gathered with us before:
“My soul is weeping with gratitude.”
“I cannot believe it that you planned for us to experience all that we did because it was exactly what I needed! You covered all the grounds of healing that I needed. I’ve changed in many ways and I am SO thankful that you shared this with us!”
“My soul ate, drank & walked away completely satiated.”
“The Wild Woman Project is one of the most beautiful organizations I have had the pleasure of working with. Truly, they are open, loving, giving community.”
“Wild Woman Fest is a temple, a union, a communion, a powerful planet of female power. It is gyrating, mystifying, magnetizing moonbath of love. Follow the tide. You will find us.”
“Still feeling so blown away by the beautiful loving space that we all held for each other.”
“WOW. The fest was absolutely amazing! We are all tingling and vibrating with all the inspiration that was shared. In deep gratitude to be part of it. Thank you for your great commitment and dedication to unfolding this amazing event so beautifully. What a luminous, heart filled, revelatory, sweet, inspiring, deep gathering of wild women. Each session so exquisite. In AWE and looking forward to more. This was one of the most meaning-filled events in my life.”
“We’re a phenomenal team of women on this planet, and I have been gifted beautiful tools to empower and connect deeper to women in my community but also globally. Like the women who have accompanied me on this journey the connection was strong and familiar – connection has no boundaries. It was magical to see this, how all our energies are connected from all different corners of the earth.”
“For the first time in my life, I truly understand what it means to be part of a sisterhood.”
“It was so much more than I could have imagined. I feel deeply connected to everyone whom was there.”
“When you become a part of this project you instantly have hundreds of sisters lifting you up, their hands at your back. Woman lifting up woman, it’s truly a blessing in my life.”
“Meeting Chris Maddox and discovering The Wild Woman Project reactivated a part of me that was frozen in time, waiting to be reborn.”
“This past weekend was the most magical experience I’ve ever had. Words can not express how much gratitude I have for all the women who spent time with me on the mountain top.”
“The workshops were really well done, well planned, well executed and I love that the teachers were also participants for the weekend. Hoping to be there for more than just one magically full day next year!!”
“The power of the weekend spent on the mountain will live inside of me forever. The threads of connection to oneself, each other, and the quiet mystery around us stretched deep, taking a hold of the heart and imagination. We gathered and we prayed, breathed, ate, danced, dreamed, and sang together.”
“I have no words for the shift that I felt with all of you on the mountain. Honestly, the weekend was a dream come true that I didn’t know I had.”
A Message from Chris Maddox,
Founder of The Wild Woman Project & Wild Woman Fest
Through the Roots Retreat Director
The first time I crossed the threshold onto the incredible land, I wept.
I knew in my bones, instantaneously, that we wild women would gather here.
Now, in August 2022, it is finally happening! After years of being physically apart, our sisterhood medicine is needed more than ever.
This smaller, more intimate group will make for a very special kind of magic. For those who were at the very first Wild Woman Fest back in 2014, you may remember that there were 50 of us all together (participants & staff). It was…very special. That gathering was the foundation on which all other years of Fest was built.
This Summer, you are invited to come as you are, to co-create with us and with this very special land, a healing, joyful, soul-nourishing experience born of a new time & rooted in new place.
I truly can’t wait to see what we make together.
xoChris
