We all have one. Our go to New Years Resolution, 7 years running. What’s yours?
It’s time take that good ol’ resolution off the shelf, dust her off and let’s make your wish a reality.
Here are 3 simple steps to making 2012 the year you finally did it.
1. Do a little digging. Get your hands dirty and uncover “WHY” of your resolution.
If it made the list every single year, chances are you are playing on the surface.
It’s not the 25lbs you want to lose. Ask yourself why you want to lose it. Maybe it’s feeling sexy and expressive in your skin.
Yes, you want to make a down payment on a house. But why? So you can have a beautiful & stable home for you and your family.
Why do you want to take public speaking class? To gain the confidence and power it takes to speak your mind.
Take a moment to find your why.
2. From there, JUICE IT UP. Make your resolution absolutely irresistible to you.
Take: “I will start a daily meditation practice.”
And spin it into resolution gold:
“I start my day by tuning into my highest self for 5 minutes. From this centered place I walk through my life totally present in the moment, free of anxiety and fear, living my highest potential.”
Always state your resolution in the present. It is already happening.
Draw a picture or make collage of you looking peaceful and centered.
Daydream. Imagine living like this all the time. Feel it in your body. Always imagine it and feel it as though you already did it.
3. Now for the real challenge: MAKE PEACE WITH THE PRESENT (Enjoy your point “A”)
Have a little faith. Faith that this moment-Your Point “A” is exactly where you are meant to be. You look exactly how you are meant to look, you are in the perfect job, your community is perfect for FOR NOW.
Your current state of circumstances may not be perfect for your FUTURE (Point “B”). Your deep desire for change (your NYR) is the seed of your “B”.
So, joyfully plant your seed. Watch it sprout with wonder.
Create what you want to create, but try not to obsess.
Feel gratitude for each and every step you make between “A” and “B”. Gold star if you can be grateful for the more gnarly stuff.
*Bonus secret about this whole being present in this moment thing: it’s where our best ideas are born and the biggest joy happens.
So, just to recap.
First, find out why you want what you want. Then make it so juicy and delicious that you can’t help but taste it. Finally, get present in this moment-where life is happening.
To all my list makin’ mamas and papas our there: Do not make a mile long list of all the ways you can reach your goal. Instead, follow your instincts as they come to you. And don’t worry. If that idea is worth your while, you will not forget it.
Wake up each morning and ask, “What can I do today to honor my deep desire for_____” and wait for it. We don’t want to do what we should do. We want to do what lights us up. Be as bright as you can this year!
Make a commitment to your highest potential by living out your deep desire (your precious NYR). If you do this, the year 2012 will go down in your personal history as the year you made your dream come true.
These 3 steps will help. Follow them. And as a gift for those on our WILD WEDNESDAY list, I am attaching a Resolution Worksheet. Enjoy!
As great yoga legend Pattabhi Jois said, “Practice and all is coming.”

I am 20 years old and interested in starting a blog, but I’m not sure where I should (what site) or how to start. I have so many interests(fashion, politics, football, acting, etc) so I’d like a journal like blog that I can write about anything and everything. Please weigh in..
