About the “From the Other Side” Series

with The Wild Woman Project Founder, Chris Maddox

In the modern world, brimming with companies, people, and special interests waving their hands and shouting, “Look over here! Buy this, do this, think this!,” our attention has become our most powerful & precious creative resource.

It is clear, the World is undergoing a massive transformation – the outcome, yet unknown. I believe, as Einstein did, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” I also believe that by accessing and working with the historically suppressed/oppressed Feminine Principle (which moves through all things) and the Right Brain (which we all have), we can uncover a different kind of thinking.

So – I am experimenting with writing through the interior of my spontaneous experiences with Inner Guidance, with hopes that it will offer me & you, dear reader, gems of perception and an account of a different way of thinking – from the other side.

May it be useful.

#3

earth and water

The oak grew with defiance and grace at the lake’s edge, rooted into red clay earth and reaching down into the water too.

I knelt down in the water at its feet, which felt like the exact right thing to do.

I reached my heart out through my hands for the weathered and sturdy roots living under water and held on. An unnameable feeling swept through me, which felt something like holding the hand of my Grandmother.

What majesty, I thought, as deep comfort rose up and out through my eyes, Why do we need to invent anything else when this perfection exists?

The only thing we need to invent, I thought, are ways to protect these wild miracles.

dreaming and waking

There was a little girl sitting in the grass and gently twirling a strand of pink crystal beads around her soft little fingers. She was saying something that sounded like a prayer I’d never heard.

I curled myself around her and wept.

She smiled, and then with a tenderness in her voice and her eyes, she kept twirling the beads which sparkled in the sunlight, and said her prayer, over and over…

I cried until I couldn’t anymore, then looked up to see the big brown eyes of an old friend, who stood me up and wiped the tears from my cheeks.

A familiar noise echoed up from downstairs and I opened my eyes, feeling both here and there.

past and future

As the fires blaze and the winds get stronger,

As the oceans carry our garbage from far from our sights,

As the tensions between the many tribes build and the technology of destruction advances,

As the bees die and ecosystems collapse,

A too-simple question emerges: What will it take for us to heal this?

Because we can, I feel, we really can…
