About the “From the Other Side” Series

with The Wild Woman Project Founder, Chris Maddox

In the modern world, brimming with companies, people, and special interests waving their hands and shouting, “Look over here! Buy this, do this, think this!,” our attention has become our most powerful & precious creative resource.

It is clear, the World is undergoing a massive transformation – the outcome, yet unknown. I believe, as Einstein did, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” I also believe that by accessing and working with the historically suppressed/oppressed Feminine Principle (which moves through all things) and the Right Brain (which we all have), we can uncover a different kind of thinking.

So – I am experimenting with writing through the interior of my spontaneous experiences with Inner Guidance, with hopes that it will offer me & you, dear reader, gems of perception and an account of a different way of thinking – from the other side.

May it be useful.

#4

In a community of bright green ferns growing along the trail, one waves vigorously, as the others stand by in stillness. Hi hi hi, hellooooo, hi, helloooo!!!, the little eager one squeals without sound.

If a wild woman laughs in the forest, and only the ferns hear it, does she make a sound?

The forest offers a feast of delights for the senses:

White mountain laurel blossoms scattered like offerings atop
the deep brown eyes of the forest floor

The lush Summer canopy
is playing shadow puppets with the Sun

The cold clear creek smoothing the stones
who are resting there

Sweet hints of honey suckle riding the waves of the wind

Tender pine needles of a tiny tree growing hopeful

A staring contest with a young doe
(she won)

Walking in the the forest on a Tuesday morning full of delight feels like getting away with something. A quiet rebellion.

In the forest,
the light is singing

The soft moss shines bright
green with promise

The breeze tickles maple leaves
And the back of my neck

The moment reminds me of a a story I once heard:

The great transcendentalist and philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson was trying to convince his dear friend and naturalist, John Muir, to leave the wilds and come to Boston and teach with him at Harvard, to which Muir replied, “What? And miss God’s big show?”

And what a show it is

The Season of wonder is here

Invitations for awe abound

Life is shimmering

simply noticing is enough

noticing is just one way

of taking world into your heart

(where it belongs)
