Dear One,
The first New Moon of Summer is here.
To honor it, we have a poem from the brilliant and oceanic mind of Anaïs Nin. It’s about risk, and growth, and pain, and calls upon the metaphor of flowers.
As we adventure through this poem together, we will let this wild woman poet inspire some New Moon journaling inquiries.
Let’s see what we find!
Risk by Anaïs Nin
And then the day came, when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful than the risk
it took
to blossom.
After you’ve taken in the poem, in the comments here, I’d love to hear from you: How did this poem land for you? Is there an area of your life where you are ready to take the risk to blossom? Please share as much or as little as you wish. Can’t wait to read them. ♥️

The poem made me realized the flower destiny is dead, however she could die in a bud or having blossom. Deep.
I’m the bud wanting to blossom it’s very painful to be a secret trans woman.. I am wanting to blossom Into a wonderful woman , and become a sister and be part of their sisterhood..
Thank you for your sharing, Melissa. You are heard. To your blossoming.
Very deep, Martha. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been feeling jealousy – which is a feeling I like least and am ashamed of, and like I’ve become this drab, dull “has been”, this poem and Chris’s exploration nailed it. I’m just afraid to blossom too! I have NOTHING to lose, I’m going to step out and claim my power and my own special skills!
Thank you for Wild Women!
“I have NOTHING to lose, I’m going to step out and claim my power and my own special skills!”
Yay, Shells!
Happy to hear that!
