María Barragán Ortiz – Chicago, IL (and also) Sevilla, Spain

María never understood why boys and girls were treated different as she was growing up. She turned into an activist in third grade, when she printed out the UNICEF children’s rights list and gave it to a teacher who was not being equitable in treating the class. She is a bilingual teacher, holistic coach, United Nations Women Chicago board member, activist and women’s circle leader.

She is originally from Spain and currently lives in the Chicago area where she currently hosts her circles both in person and online. María has been a Nomad for more than ten years, and keeps traveling the world empowering, learning and writing.

María creates safe space in her Women’s Circles. Through sisterhood, meditation, ritual, art, crafting and sharing, she guides women seeking a deeper understanding of their inner-selves, to unfold their potential while creating connection and community.
