When it comes to walking the path of the Wild Woman (a path of one’s own), I believe in the powerful combination of Inner Guidance & Personal Experiments. Experiments that spring up from inner guidance bear so much fruit – that is self-knowledge, healing, personal fulfillment, and even transformation.

Because today the Waxing Quarter Moon is announcing that we are a quarter of the way through the “In the Flesh Cycle”, this is a perfect time to go a little further with the exploration we initiated on the New Moon, September 20th.

The following 3 experiments are an offering to help you get in touch with the wisdom and guidance that is living in your wise wise body. Come with a sincere heart & play!

1 – Ask a Juicy Question.

The asking of good questions provides a rich ground for contemplation & awakening. As Dr. Estes writes in Women Who Run With the Wolves:
“Asking the proper question is the central action of transformation- in fairy tales, in analysis, and in individuation. The key question causes germination of consciousness. The properly shaped question always emanates from an essential curiosity about what stands behind. Questions are the keys that cause the secret doors of the psyche to swing open.”
For this I recommend closing your eyes, taking 5 slow breathes and intentionally asking your inner guidance (which often in expresses itself via your body) the question you want to ask.

Sample Questions:
•What does my body want me to know right now?
•What is my body trying to tell me?
•How do I experience inner guidance through my body?
•What does my tight hip need to loosen up?
•What is my irregular menstruation trying to communicate to me?

What burning question do you have? Ask in & listen well.

2 – Get Intimate with Your Body’s Response.

There is tons of great advice out there (albeit often contradictory) about what you should eat, do, engage in. Because we are aiming to get in touch with how our body actually feels on the inside, I recommend getting intimate with your own body’s response to activities, food, drink, people, various stimuli ~ especially those things you find yourself strongly called to engage with or not.

For this I recommend closing your eyes, taking 5 slow breathes and intentionally asking your inner guidance/body to remember. Using a journal to record your findings, allow your body to lead.

Sample Inquiries:
•When I eat ____, my body feels ____.
•When I do ____, my body feels ____.
•When I sleep for ___ hours a night, my body feels _____.
•When I am physically intimate with ____, my body feels ____.
•When I practice/engage in _____, my body feels ____.
•When I engage on Social Media for ___ minutes, my body feels ___ .
•When I talk to _____, my body feels _____.
•When I think about _____, my body feels _____.

What inquiries do you have? Ask in & Listen.

3 – Play: Experiment in Trusting Your Body

Now that you have asked some questions and received your answers, it is time to experiment  – in the spirit of play.

Sample Experiment: This summer I had a case of BV (a super common & no fun at all bacterial infection). At first I asked my wise friends for advice & started working with their suggestions. I did not notice much change at all &  I really did not want to take antibiotics. One day, I got really quiet, closed my eyes, and I asked my vagina (where the infection was living) what it needed. The answer came through super clear: warm water. So, that night, I took a bath and added a few drops of tea tree oil which I knew to be antibacterial – and Viola! Dramatic change. I took regular baths like this twice a week for a couple weeks and the infection was totally gone! Not only did the infection go away, but each bath felt profoundly healing. The body knows.

Is there an experiment you want to conduct?
All it takes is listening to your body’s guidance & taking action.

PSA – I think it goes without saying, but just in case – do be careful! If you get guidance to do something that you are unfamiliar with and seems for any reason risky, do some research to be sure you are acting in wisdom.

Okay, dear ones! Have fun with this. Explore!
